Statement of Purpose:

To verify, collect, preserve, interpret and exhibit the history of Father Flanagan's Boys' Home (Boys Town), its programs and entities; we present this history to the children of Boys Town, alumni, employee and general public.

Highlights:

The museum documents through artifacts and interactive audiovisual displayes, the dramatic story of Boys Town's mission to care for at-risk and troubled children.

Exhibits include Spencer Tracy's 1938 Academy Award for the MGM feature film "Boys Town;" the Theo Faberge Brotherhood Egg and numerous autographed baseballs and other memorabilia from famous visitors to Boys Town including Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Abbott and Costello, Bing Crosby and Bob Hope.

The Father Flanagan Home is the original residence of Boys Town Founder Father Edward J. Flanagan from 1927 to 1940. The home is renovated and furnished with artifacts and antiques, including an inlaid wood desk created by Flanagan's "boys" as a tribute. The desk took six years to complete and is comprised of 39 variety of wood, 250,000 pieces of wood altogether.

1938 Best Actor Oscar

When Spencer Tracy won the Oscar, he sent it to Father Flanagan as a gift. Now on display at the Boys Town Hall of Fame.


The Hall of History

uses life-size figures, audio/visual presentations, photographs, and artifacts to tell the story of Boys Town's founding and growth since 1917.
