Statement of Purpose:

The Mariners' Museum, one of the largest international maritime museums in the world, is dedicated to "preserving and interpreting the culture of the sea."

Highlights & Collections:

Maritime history comes alive at The Mariners' Museum, where visitors can view miniature and hand-crafted ship models, detailed scrimshaw, intricately carved figureheads, and thousands of other artifacts inspired by man's experiences with the sea.

International in scope, the Museum's collections include more than 35,000 maritime items such as ship models, scrimshaw, navigationa instruments, maritime paintings, decorative arts, small craft from five continents, working steam engines,historical photographs, and more.

Admission & Directions:

The Museum is located at the intersection of J. Clyde Morris and Warwick boulevards in Newport News, Virginia, between Williamsburg and Norfolk. Take I-64 to exit 258A. Proceed 2.5 miles to the Museum entrance.
