Jesse James, son of a Baptist minister, was born at the family home in Kearney, Missouri in 1847. The Jesse James Musuem preserves the original log cabin in which Jesse was born.
Before you walk the trail to the James family home, you'll enjoy an exciting laser disc presentation recapping the history of Frank and Jesse James. You will also enjoy the museum which has three galleries of exhibits.
When you are finished with the museum, you will receive a guided tour through the cabin where Jesse was born. Upon completion of your tour you will have a better understanding of the historical events of the period and how those events shaped the lives of Frank and Jesse James.
James Family personal belongings and furnishings. The cabin is furnished with family pieces that belonged to Frank and Jesse's mother and father. The museum houses guns, boots, letters, personal documents, and many other items belonging to both Frank and Jesse James and their families.
Other areas of interest in the musuem include a section devoted to all the movies made about the James boys.
