Statement of Purpose:

The regional history of Northern Kentucky as part of the Ohio Valley must be preserved for the benefit of present and future generations. Therefore, the Behringer-Crawford Museum is a center for the collection, presentation, study and enjoyment of our natural, cultural, and visual and performing arts heritage.

Highlights:

The Museum is located in the historic Devou family home c. 1848 - 1880. The displays and educational programming cover over 450 million years of Northern Kentucky history.

Travel through the region’s history along Rivers, Roads, Rails & Runways enjoying artifacts, interactive displays and hands-on activities. Hear the stories of the commuters on the Kentucky, the last streetcar of its kind known to exist in the U.S.; climb the Roebling Bridge and pilot a packet boat along the Ohio River; stop in at the drive-in theater and enjoy the show in a 1959 Buick; and, soar through the development of the International Airport. Devou Park provides scenic views of Covington and nearby Cincinnati.

Exhibits:

Behringer-Crawford Museum, located in the historic Devou family home (c. 1848 – 1880), opened to the public in 1950. It was so named because it featured the natural history collections of West Covington native and world traveler, William Behringer, and in honor of the museum’s first curator and noted archeologist, Ellis Crawford.

The museum presents a broad range of creative and educational programs for all ages, including the Music@BCM Concert Series, freshART, Holiday Toy Trains, innovative and fascination exhibits featuring regional history, the Junior Curator Program in Archaeology, and other events in consonance with our mission. BCM is also home to definitive collections of artwork by Mary Bruce Sharon, Harlan Hubbard, and Wolfgang Ritschel.

Hours:

Open Tuesday-Saturday,10:00-5:00; Sunday 1:00-5:00; closed major holidays.

Admission:

$7; $6 (ages 60+); $4 (ages 3-17). Rates may change for special events. MC, VISA, Gift Shop, Group tours available.

From I-75, exit either 5th Street or 12th Street/Pike Street Covington and follow brown Behringer-Crawford Museum/Devou Park signs.
