The Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania is dedicated to preserving and interpreting railroading's history and its impact on society and the economy.
On display are some hundred historically significant locomotives and rail cars, plus extensive exhibits of railroad equipment, workers, model trains and railroad paraphernalia.
The indoor exhibit hall is 100,000 square feet, plus a large outdoor restoration and storage yard which includes a working 1928 railroad turntable.
The greatly expanded Railway Education Center will open in the Summer of 2000, featuring structured and casual learning opportunityes.
Tours, docents and special programs are available.
The Pennsylvania Railroad Historical Collection of last-of-their-kind locomotives and rail cars, plus equipment from other railroads such as the Reading, Western Maryland, smaller railroads.
Over 80 locomotives, rail cars, tools, uniforms, china with interpretive exhibits.
Virtually all locomotives and rail cars are on permanent display, with some occasionally undergoing additional restoration. Art by Grif Teller and other railroad artists is also on display, along with artifacts from various railroads such as clocks, lanterns, china, tools and signs. In addition, locomotives and other items on loan from the Smithsonian Institution are on view.

2000 marks the twenty fifth year of public operation of the museum.
Admissions are set by the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission.
Individual rate is $6.00, with special prices for senior citizens, families and members of the Friends of the Railroad Museum. Special pricing applies to structured educational programs provided to groups.
