Opening Night Benefit for the Museum of Contemporary Art - Thursday, May 9, 1996

A total of 185 galleries from 21 countries and 29 US cities were chosen from more than 300 applicants by an international selection committee of 15 leading galleries assembled by international art exposition producer Thomas Blackman Associates

The organizer expects at least 30,000 art enthusiasts, collectors, museum curators, and art professionals to attend Art 1996 Chicago.

No other show in the United States boasts such a dramatic mix of domestic and foreign dealers: 98 US and 87 international galleries.

Art 1996 Chicago will open privately with the pop of a champagne cork on Thursday evening, May 9, 1996, as the Women's Board of the Museum of Contemporary Art hosts Vernissage '96, an annual benefit for Chicago's Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA), at navy Pier's Festival Hall from 6:30pm to 10:30 pm.

The show will be open to the public from Friday, May 10 through Monday, May 13, from noon to 8pm each day at Navy Pier's Festival Hall. On Tuesday May 14, the hours will be noon to 6pm. Tickets at the door are $10 for g.a.; $7 for students, seniors and tour group members. A 3-day pass is $20; a 5-day pass is $30.
