Statement of Purpose:

The purpose of the Scripps Institution of Oceanography is public education.

The mission of the Birch Aquarium at Scripps is to provide ocean science education, to interpret Scripps research, and to promote ocean conservation.

The Stephen Birch Aquarium Museum.

Overlooking picturesque La Jolla, California and the campus of Scripps Institution of Oceanography, UCSD.

Kelp Forest Exhibit.

The aquarium's showcase exhibitfeatures a 75,000 gallon tank with locally collected sea plants and animals.

Scripps Hall of Oceanography.

Hands-on exhibits are the central attractions in the museum wing, where visitors learn about Scripps research.

Outdoor tide-pool Plaza.

A realistic tide-pool exhibit offers close-up looks at local marine life, backed by scenic views of the coast.
