Statement of Purpose
The Tempe Historical Museum exists in order to collect, preserve, display
and interpret the material remains of Tempe's history.
The Museum seeks to involve the community in its
operation and to gain a greater appreciation for history.
Highlights & Collections
Videos that bring historic photographs to life;
fully interactive model of the Salt River showing irrigation in prehistoric
and historic times;
interactive map of Tempe showing its growth and the location of major landmarks;
changing exhibits twice a year featuring hands-on elements;
docent-led activities for the whole family.
Costumes and textiles, household items, furnishings, business and agricultural
equipment, photographs and archives.
Exhibits & Special Events
Changing exhibits. Outdoor events. Holiday activities.
Adult classes. Hands-on fun.
Mon-Thu and Sat: 10-5; Sun: 1-5.
Admission & Directions
Free admission; donations are accepted.
- The museum is located on the southwest corner of
Southern Avenue and Rural Road with easy access off Route 60
