MUSEUM
30 galleries, 125,000 total square feet.
ON THE MAIN LEVEL;
European Art: Displayed according to the schools of art and the historical
periods.
18th-and 19th-century European (primarily French),
early Tuscan painting,
Venetian paintings of the 15th and 16th-centuries,
High Renaissance and Baroque paintings of the 16th through 18th-centuries.
ON THE UPPER LEVEL;
Collections of Asian ceramics and paintings.
American collections, occupying 5 galleries, with emphasis given to the museum's
extensive holdings of 19th-century landscape paintings, 20th-century American
art, and contemporary works dating from the 1960s, contemporary craft media
sculpture and decorative art works.
Antiquities from Greek, Roman, Egyptian and other ancient cultures.
The Works on Paper gallery is also on the upper level, featuring exhibitions
from the collection of over 900 works.
A Closer Look Interpretive Gallery where various works from the permanent
collection are exhibited to illustrate themes or styles in art.
ON THE LOWER LEVEL;
African and Native American collections.
Waite Phillip's Santa Fe room.
The Culture and Creativity Gallery; a participatory gallery concentrating
on the Museum's non-western collection.
Wall text panels and plaques describe individual rooms, works of art and
historical features along the way.

Restaurant, 26 acre gardens and historic Renaissance-style villa.
VILLA PHILBROOK
The Italianate Villa and gardens were home to Waite and Genevieve Phillips
from 1927 to 1938.
Designed by architect Edward Buehler Delk (1885-1956), Kansas City, Missouri.
Donated in 1938 by Waite and Genevieve Phillips to become the city's first
art museum .
A touch of Continental refinement to the High Plains, being mannerly on the
outside and whimsical within.
Listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Lavish efforts have been made to restore and preserve all the baroque grandeur
of the 1927 home elaborate hand-painted ceilings, wrought-iron grill work,
and the music room's hand-painted murals.
ROTUNDA WING
A 75,000 square-foot addition was completed in 1990, designed by Urban Design
Group of Tulsa and Michael Lustig & Associates of Chicago.

in the Museum Shop.
GARDENS
23 acres of formal gardens, natural woods and sweeping lawns.
A classical tempietto (little temple) in the rear formal garden.
A dusting of frontier bravura with a barbecue pit and a campfire circle.
Landscape architect Herbert Hare (1880-1969), Kansas City, Missouri.
Detailed information provided on plaques throughout the garden.
Audio tapes and headphones for self-guided tours of the garden are available
for rental in the Museum Shop.
SCHOOL
Oklahoma's only museum school.
Classes for children and adults utilize Philbrook's many resources, particularly
the Museum's collections and grounds, giving insight into the nature and
process of art.
OTHER
Over 100 volunteer docents offer a variety of different tours. To schedule
a tour call 748-5309 two weeks in advance.

La Villa Restaurant at Philbrook, our gallery of fine cuisine, open for lunch
and Sunday brunch; Tuesday - Sunday 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. Cocktails each Thursday
from 5-7 p.m.
Chapman Research Library with a non-circulating collections of over 8,000
titles and 135 art periodicals available for reference.
