Statement of Purpose

To acquire, maintain, and preserve collections providing an understanding of the history of the Rogers, Arkansas, area, and of daily life at the turn-of-the-century; to encourage and carry out research relevant to the collections; to educate the public and schoolchildren about the history of the Rogers area through exhibits, classes, lectures, tours and outreach programs.

The Rogers Historical Museum serves the community through:

• educating the public about the history and traditions of Rogers and the surrounding area of Northwest Arkansas;
• preserving our local heritage through research and by collecting andcaring for materials that reflect and document the connections betweenour past and the present and between our area and the nation;
• providing enriching and enjoyable experiences for all; and
• partnering with our neighbors to foster an appreciation of the Rogersarea and to encourage investment in its future.

Highlights & Collections

• The 1895 historic house museum, the Hawkins House, the recent restoration and refurnishing which was recognized by a preservation award from the Victorian Society in America;
• "The Attic", a hands-on exhibit that is a favorite with families;
• "First Street", a re-creation of early Rogers stores;
• changing exhibits on local history and
• everyday life at the turn-of-the-century;
• research library.

19th and early 20th century furniture and household furnishings; photographs and archival materials; textiles and clothings; tools and business equipment; painting, drawings, and posters by local artists and of local scenes.
