Statement of Purpose:

Incorporated as a 501(3c) nonprofit organization in 1989, the Miniature Museum of Greater St. Louis opened in June 2001.  This museum was conceived to create a permanent home to share and preserve donated collections of miniature works for people of all ages to enjoy.  Cultural and educational aspects are foremost in the hearts of the museum members.

Highlights & Collections:

The museum currently has exhibits featuring Native Americans, famous women of history, and displays depicting American homes and interiors of the 18th, 19th, and 20th century—both educational and whimsical.

Featured miniature exhibits include a multilevel shopping center, an “old-time” saloon, an apartment building, Santa’s summer residence, several large dollhouses, roomboxes, and vignettes. There are also displays of miniature books, silver, porcelain, furniture, and speciality pieces created by miniature artisans.  Seasonal and holiday displays are exhibited on a rotating basis.

The museum recently acquired the replica of the Basilica of St. Louis (known as the Old Cathedral) previously displayed in their museum.  We hope to have this renovated and on exhibit before the end of 2003.

There is also a gift shop and a library devoted to miniatures located at the museum.
