Statement of Purpose:

To collect, preserve, and present contemporary works of art through rotating exhibition, special events, and education programs

Highlights & Collections:

Contemporary art exhibitions and installations; collections include contemporary works on paper and site specific outdoor sculpture.

The Permanent Collection contains works of art on paper by the many of the leading contemporary artists, including Andy Warhol, April Gornik, David Hockney, Graciela Iturbide, Wayne Thiebaud, Nancy Graves, Eric Fischl, James Rosenquist, and Lorna Simpson among many others.

The UAM also maintains an outdoor, monumental site-specific sculpture collection spread throughout the 322-acre campus, including works by Robert Irwin, Bryan Hunt, Woods Davy, Eugenia Butler, and Frederick Fisher among o

Exhibits & Special Events:

"Graphic Abstraction in America: A View from the First Century" a collaboration between the University Art Museum and the National Museum of American Art, Smithsonian Institution, which examines graphic abstraction on paper. The two-year project will consist of 6 installation, each with a different focus.

"Centric 56: Kim Cridler" sculpture made of steel and other materials that range from small to monumental, that often depict domestic and decorative objects.

Suggested donation: $3 general/$1 students

From the 405, 605, and 22 West Freeways, exit 7th Street. Turn right at Bellflower, right on State University Drive, and left at Merriam Way. There is visitor parking in the second parking lot on the right.
