Housed in a renovated 1912 BR&P passenger station; to preserve
rail history in the Salamanca area.
Highlights & Collections:
The museum exhibits show nostalgic
railroad pieces
with an emphasis on the three railroads that served the
region; the
Erie, the Baltimore and Ohio (BR&P), and the Pennsylvania Railroads.
Exhibits:
A
“Rolling Stock” static display of
caboose, camp and freight cars is permanently present outside the
Museum’s
Freight House. The Museum’s permanent collection features
Railroad
photographs, artifacts and memorabilia against the backdrop of a fully
restored
1912 BR&P passenger terminal.
Monday through Saturday from 10 AM to 5 PM
and
Sundays from 12 PM to 5 PM.
Closed Mondays in April, and October -
December.
Closed months of January, February and
March.
Admission & Directions:
Admission is Free.
West Bound: Easily
accessible from Interstate I-86 exit 21 to
Clinton St (west bound) turn right on Main Street and continue through
the
business district to Rochester Street where the museum sits just off
the
intersection on the right hand side.
East Bound: Easily
accessible from Interstate I-86 exit 20
to Broad St (East bound) turn left on Main Street and continue through
the
business district to Rochester Street where the museum sits just off
the
intersection on the right hand side.
