Statement of Purpose:

The Orange County Museum of Art is the premier visual arts museum in Orange County, California.  The museum’s program of dynamic solo exhibitions and landmark group shows links historical and contemporary art and ideas, bridges local and global perspectives, and embraces a diverse array of cultural activities and media.  The museum is dedicated to engaging diverse audiences by providing creative commentary and illuminating dialogue on issues in our society through the arts.


Highlights & Collections:

Post-1945 California, American and European art.

The Museum collection is highly regarded internationally for its depth of holdings in post-war California art, consisting of over 2,300 works of painting, sculpture, prints, drawings and photography.

Key holdings include works by David Park, Richard Diebenkorn, Nathan Oliveira, Joan Brown, Roland Petersen, Ed Ruscha, John Altoon, Larry Bell, Robert Irwin, Joe Goode, Chuck Arnoldi, Louis Baltz, Judy Fiskin and Rachel Lachowicz. The Museum also has major holdings in room size installation works such as Bill Viola's Theater of Memory and Chris Burden's Tale of Two Cities.

Wednesday- Sunday 11:00 am- 5:00 pm, Thursday 11:00 am- 8:00pm. 

Admission & Directions:

Adults $10, Students/seniors $8, and members and children under 12 are free.  Also Thursdays are free.

The Museum is located in Newport Center near Fashion Island. From the San Diego Freeway (405) take Jamboree Exit south (to coast) for 5 miles. Turn Left at Santa Barbara, and left at San Clemente.
