Showcasing the art, history, culture and archaeology of the Ancient Near East.
This museum contains historic artifacts from Egypt, Iraq, Iran, Israel, Palestine, Syria and Turkey.
The Oriental Institute has one of the few comprehensive collections of artifacts from the ancient Near East and the Nile valley.
A great proportion of the collection was excavated by Institute scholars.
Among the highlights of the collection are the 17 foot-tall statue of king Tutankhamun, and a 40-ton winged bull from the palace of Assyrian king Sargon II.
