Statement of Purpose:

Showcasing the art, history, culture and archaeology of the Ancient Near East.

This museum contains historic artifacts from Egypt, Iraq, Iran, Israel, Palestine, Syria and Turkey.

Highlights & Collections:

The Oriental Institute has one of the few comprehensive collections of artifacts from the ancient Near East and the Nile valley.

A great proportion of the collection was excavated by Institute scholars.

Among the highlights of the collection are the 17 foot-tall statue of king Tutankhamun, and a 40-ton winged bull from the palace of Assyrian king Sargon II.
