Statement of Purpose
General history museum with an emphasis on the local and regional history of Onslow County and surrounding area.
Highlights & Collections
The Onslow County Museum is a county agency dedicated to the preservation
of Onslow County history, featuring the long term exhibit, "The Water and the
Wood." The exhibit depicts via narrative text, photography, and
dimensional
artifacts, Onslow County's history from the prehistoric era to the
present.
Of particular interest is the 38 foot 750 year old cypress dugout canoe,
believed to have been constructed by regional native americans. The changing
gallery features a variety of exhibits rotated approximately every 6
months.
Exhibits & Special Events
The Museum hosts 3 annual events, including a Civil War encampment in April,
Quilt Show in September and Art and Craft Festival in November.
