Statement of Purpose:

Preservation and research in the decorative arts of the Southern states, 1680-1820.

Highlights & Collections:

Twenty-four period rooms and seven galleries collecting original pieces of decorative art from seven southern states, up to 1820.

Southern decorative art through 1820.

Furniture, paintings, textiles, ceramics, silver, metalwares, rifles and other items from Georgia, the Carolinas, Virginia, Kentucky, Tennessee, and Maryland.

Hours:

Guided tours can be scheduled at the Old Salem Visitor Center or the main desk at the Horton Center.

Tours run about one and one half hours; available from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday; Sunday 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.

Open daily except Thanksgiving, December 24 and Christmas Day.

Admission & Directions:

Admissions available in conjunction with Old Salem tours or for MESDA only.

From Interstate 40, Business 40 or US 52: follow the brown Old Salem signs to the historic district. The Frank L. Horton Museum Center is on lower Main Street.
