Statement of Purpose:
With more than 120 million objects in i research collections, the museum is a fascinating resource on people and their natural surroundings.
Visitors can see examples of thousands of ancient and modern mammals, birds, amphibians, reptiles, insects and sea creatures.
Realistic dioramas also reveal humankind's earliest history and the development of world cultures.
Among the exhibits are halls devoted to dinosaurs, marine ecosystems and Native American cultures.

Exhibits:
150th Anniversary Exhibition Hall: The new Janet Annenberg Hooker Hall of Geology, Gems and Minerals, featuring fabulous gems and the Hope Diamond, interactive computers and videos, opens in this museum in December 1996.
