Exhibitions show everyday life in America just after the Revolutionary War, the American Industrial Revolution, the Information Age, "Science in American Life" and the diverse origins of the American people.
Visitors will also find exhibitions on agriculture, armed forces history, graphic arts, ceramics, political history and many other areas.

Highlights include: Ford Model T, Duke Ellington musical transcripts, Star-Spangled Banner, John Bull steam locomotive, Morse's telegraph, Bell's original experimental telephones, Foucault pendulum, First Ladies' gowns, interactive computer gallery, and
two "Hands On" centers.
