Statement of Purpose:

A 501c3 organization, The Lorain County Historical Society is committed to serve all persons and organizations interesting in Lorain County's past, present, and future by: collecting, preserving, interpreting, and presenting the history of Lorain County.

Highlights:

An 1895 mansion that was the former home of Elyria industrialist Arthur Garford.

Major Collections: Victorian Era clothing and furniture

Major Research Fields: The Hicks Memorial Library, houses, city directories of Elyria and Lorain, plus other publications pertinent to the history of Lorain County.

Exhibits:

Brilliant glassware; Victorian tea time; early woodworking tools.

Hours:

Tuesday-Friday 10-4, Tours at 1:00 and 2:30

Admission:

• Adults $3.50, Children (6-12) $1.00
• Turn north on Washington Ave. from Broad St. Museum is on the right just past Columbus St. Parking is in the rear.
