Statement of Purpose
Teaching Museum for Cornell University
Our main purpose is educational. Spanning the history of art, the
Museum's
collections are especially strong in Asian art, ninteenth and twentieth
century
American art, and graphic arts.

Asian Galleries.
The Johnson Museum has one of the finest collections of art in New
York State,
and is recognized as one of the most important university museums in
the
country. Free and open to everyone, it is housed in a landmark building
designed
by the renowned artchitect I. M. Pei.

Where We Are Now: Recent Acquisitions in Contemporary Prints
With several important purchases as well as a stellar gift from
the Berley Collection, this exhibiiton explores contemporary prints,
their makers and techniques.
Fresh Woods and Pastures New: 17th Century Dutch Landscape
Drawings from
the Peck Collection
A rare public look at an outstanding private collection includes
works by Rembrandt, Jacob van Ruisdael, Jan van Goyen, and many other
masters of the period.
Light Construction: Photo-Sculptures by Doug Prince
Combining two-dimensional photographic images with the
three-dimensional sculptural medium, Prince's work creates carefully
constructed worlds of fact and fiction
Women's Works
Images made by women from many cultures, drawn from the Museum's
permanent collection.
Indian Textiles 1400-1900
Drawn from a major private collection, this exhibition features
splendid temple hangings, saris, shawls, and other fabrics showing a
wide range of Indian textile traditions.
Andy Goldsworthy II
Goldsworthy returns to Cornell for an exhibition of photographs,
drawings and sculpture in the galleries.
