Statement of Purpose:

Living history village with commercial and residential buildings furnished with period artifacts and replicas; museum of artifacts illustrating life from 17th century to today. Through interactive and participatory programs, visitors experience the lives of early residents.

Highlights & Collections:

Commercial and social life on Staten Island and in New York City from the 17th century until today.


The Voorlezer's House (c. 1695), a National Historic Landmark, is the oldest building in the United States used as a schoolhouse.

Exhibits:

There are three exhibits in the Historical MuseumMade on Staten Island; TOYS! and Mother Goose Meets Harry Potter. At Home on Staten Island is displayed in the Bennett House.
