Statement of Purpose:
Founded in 1974, the
International Center of Photography
(ICP) is both a museum and one of the largest schools of photography in
the
world.
Exhibitions, collections,
publications, workshops, seminars, symposia,
and certificate and degree programs are among the complementary
activities that
make ICP dynamic and unique among photographic institutions.
With a mission to
present photography’s vital and central place in contemporary culture,
and to lead in interpretation of issues central to its development, ICP
has
exposed its increasingly diverse audience to the images of more than
2,500
photographers and works from its collection, which includes over
150,000
original prints that span the history of the photographic medium.
