Statement of Purpose
Historic museum that collects, preserves, researches, exhibits and interprets materials relating to history of Southwestern Wyoming.
Our museum, as well as serving as a community center for the Kemmerer/Diamondville area, collects, preserves, researches, exhibits, and interprets materials related to the natural and cultural history of South Lincoln County and southwestern Wyoming, for the education and enjoyment of the public.
Highlights & Collections
Fossil Country Museum was started by citizens of Kemmerer/Diamondville who wanted a place to celebrate the areas history. Our main attractions are a replica underground coal mine, bootleg stills, two-bodied lamb, mountain man exhibit, and dinosaur (hadrosaur) footprint. Addmission is free.
Major collections include over 1,000 historical photographs of the area and Kemmerer Coal Company Papers. Photographs can be reproduced foir visitors.

Campfire Chats every Thursday night in Archie Neil Park in Kemmerer, June 10 - August 19. Chats feature local writers, Children's programs, historic events, and fossils.
2nd annual 5K run/walk, July, 6:30 am Awards for all age groups
Oyster Ridge Music Festival, August, featuring Runaway Truck Ramp and Robin Kessinger.
Wyoming Heritage Auction, November.

From Interstate 80, take either highways 30 or 189 North to Kemmerer. we are on the main street in Kemmerer (400 Pine Ave).
