Statement of Purpose:
Rural heritage and agricultural history of South Dakota.
The museum is dedicated to the preservation and interpretation of objects related to South Dakota's agricultural history and rural heritage.
Its exhibits focus not only on crops, livestock, and related technologies, but also on the human experiences that have been shaped by the state's diverse environment.
Highlights:
Restored 1915 J. I. Case steam traction engine,
original 1882 homestead claim shack, and
1915 farmhouse.
Exhibits:
In 1997 the museum is celebrating its 30th birthday with monthly exhibits and programs featuring various elements of agricultural industry.
In addition, the 9th annual Brown Bag Lecture Series happens in January through March,
the 10th annual Fiberworks festival in September, and
the 11th annual south Dakota Christmas exhibit in November through January.
