Statement of Purpose:
"The Maine Museum of American Art" focuses on the history of American art with a special emphasis on Maine artists.
Highlights:
The only Museum in the country telling the important story
of Maine artists within the context of the history
of American art. Adjacent Victorian Homestead , placed on
the National Registrar of Historic Places and considered
one of the finest Victorian-era residences on the East
coast. The Olson House in nearby Cushing is well known as
the site of Christina's World by Andrew Wyeth and is
preserved as depicted in numerous works by the artist.
Exhibits:
Ongoing: Maine in America--permanent collection embracing the history of American art with a special emphasis on works related to Maine.
