Statement of Purpose:
A public museum of art to educate its diverse constituents of the Greater Boston and New England areas regarding modern contemporary American art. Focusing primarily on art of the New England area.
Highlights:
Opened in 1950, the DeCordova Museum presents exhibitions of American modern and contemporary art with a particular focus upon the works of living New England artists.
DeCordova's Museum School of Art provides the largest non-degree granting studio art program in Massachusetts.
DeCordova's 35 acre Sculpture Park is free to the public and features more than 40 outdoor works.
During the summer, DeCordova features various summer concerts, including the popular Jazz at DeCordova series, which is produced in conjunction with the Bank of Boston Celebrity Series.
Exhibits:
DeCordova features the largest Permanent Collection of New England
contemporary art in the region. The Museum recently initiated a $2 million
campaign to create an arts acquisition fund dedicated for the purchase of
regional contemporary art.
