Forbidden Gardens is an outdoor museum designed to educate visitors about the history, culture, and landmarks of China.
Stroll through the 1/20 scale model of the Forbidden City and see a bird's-eye view of the palaces of the Imperial system as they appeared for nearly 500 years.
See a sweeping one-third scale model of the first emperor's terra-cotta army replicating the actual excavation in Xi-an, China.
Enjoy other exhibit models including
Examine examples of third-century BC weapons, architecture techniques of the Forbidden City, and much, much more.
Forbidden Gardens is a must see for everyone who wants to embark on an unforgettable journey to a faraway land - without stepping outside of Texas.
We are open year-round Fri.-Sun. 10am-5pm for general walk-ins. We are only open Mon.-Thur. for pre-arranged large group tours.
Our guided tours, which are included in the price of admission, will begin at approximately 11am, 1pm, and 3pm. The tours are definitely recommended, but not required. If you are planning on taking a tour, we suggest getting here about 30 or 45 minutes early so you can watch the 2-part video that is showing in the theater room before taking the tour.
From Houston, head west on Interstate 10, exit the Grand Parkway (Highway 99, exit #743), north (right) approximately 1 mile, left on Franz Road. Forbidden Gardens will be on the immediate right.
