Statement of Purpose
One of Ohio's finest historical museums is located in downtown Lima. Exhibits include pioneer and Native American collections; rare minerals exhibit; antique firefighting equipment; a steam and electric railroad collection; a turn-of-the-century country barbershop and doctor's office and a magnificent model based on George Washington's Mount Vernon home. This model measures 10'x15' and includes the mansion, gardens, servants' quarters and stables. The Children's Museum features exciting "hands-on" activities for school-age children. Also visit the children's garden where you will find beautiful flowers, an herb garden, gazebo, topiaries and more. Adjacent to the museum is an annex with military displays, as well as a restored narrow-gauge Shay locomotive built in Lima.
